The Federal Government has introduced new GST/HST relief measures for all eligible home buyers purchasing a new home. While details continue to unfold, the intent is clear: reduce upfront costs and make homeownership more accessible. - HST is removed on homes valued up to $1M
- HST maximum rebate is maintained for new homes valued between 1M and 1.5M
- HST is reduced on homes valued between $1.5M and 1.85M
- Homes above 1.85M would qualify for the $24,000 in HST relief under the pre-existing rebate
- The purchase agreement must be signed between April 1st, 2026, and March 31st, 2027
